The Johnson family has owned our ranch which is located just west of Stephenville, TX since the 1960's with Gifford & Linda Johnson carefully choosing the perfect piece of land for their family to grow. Raising their two boys Cody and Corey Johnson to understand and be knowledgable of every corner and value of the land, the importance of the western lifestyle, but most importantly to always put God and family first.

    After the passing of Papaw(Gifford)in 2009 and Mamaw(Linda) moving to town, Cody and Luann Johnson moved the grandkids, Bayli, Tori, and Clay out to the ranch house and started the next chapter of the Johnson Ranch.

​

   Wanting to take the ranch and its horse and cattle program to the next level the concept of the "Twisted J" brand began. The "J" was hand-drawn during a conversation and is now placed on the hip of every head of corriente cattle and performance-bred horse raised on the ranch. To date Twisted J Ranch, with its herd of exceptionally bred broodmares, produces some of the highest quality barrel racing and roping horses  the industry has to offer. You've even seen a few over the years in the infamous yellow arena during the NFR in Las Vegas.

   In 2018 Twisted J Ranch acquired  one of the biggest named stallions in the barrel racing industry, Eddie Stinson. A son of Dash Ta Fame, he not only produces future superstars for Twisted J Ranch, but also stands to the public at Valley Equine.

​

   Since 2010 you have seen the Twisted J Family dive into other successful adventures  allowing us to spread our name into other industries. While the boutique, custom apparel, and bar/concert venue are no longer part of our future we've got great stories to tell, memories and friends that will last a lifetime, and an even greater love for our family and brand.

​

   In 2025 with the entire family back on the ranch together a day of exploring led us into our next adventure, Texas Best Aggregate. From crushed limestone, sand, select fill, and premium top soil we will be able to provide a little bit of Twisted J Ranch to all those that are ready to take their land, homes, and projects to the next level.
